Compassionate Communication Workshop.
“What I want in my life is compassion, a flow between myself and others based on a mutual giving from the heart.” – Marshall B. Rosenberg, Ph.DThis Compassionate Communication workshop will integrate teachings of heart to heart understanding applied within ourselves, interpersonal relationships, community, and Nature. It will include learning the principles of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) alongside Ancient Wisdom teachings and rituals from various cultures to embody the fundamentals of compassionate communication and deep listening..NVC is a way of communicating that leads us to give from the heart. It is founded on language and communication skills that strengthen our ability to remain human, even under trying circumstances. We replace old patterns of defending, withdrawing, or attacking in the face of judgment, criticism, and coming to perceive ourselves and others as well as our intentions and relationships in new light. It contains nothing new; all that has been integrated into NVC has been known for centuries...NVC is not a set formula, but something that adapts to various situations as well as personal and cultural styles..-Marshall B. Rosenberg, Ph.D.We must realign ourselves with what it truly means to be wild women and men. To be wild does not mean to be out of control. It does not mean to go mindlessly screaming or cackling through our lives, our environments, relationships and communications with little purpose or meaning. That is not wild, that is rabid. And it is dangerous. Wild means to be wise and uncorrupted; to be in balance, in an organic and harmonious state with all other organic life forms. Some aboriginal tribes of Australia use the word, Dadirri..It is an inner, deep listening and quiet, still awareness. Most indigenous peoples have a word to reflect this state. We must all regain our wise wildness in this sense. Not as the wild-child archetype, but as the wild woman/man archetype. And there is a huge difference we need to understand if we are to evolve, heal and truly communicate. We need to grow up. Of course we need to let our inner child out to run free and play..However, our inner child will not come out and run free unless he/she is made to feel safe by providing safe boundaries. Only a Wild Woman/Man can hold that container because it is only through our wild and wise Self that we can truly come into a state of compassion, harmony and balance with all “others” we encounter and commune with..-Rhea Odegard, Visionary Teacher and Healer.Through an active participation style workshop, students will learn ways to connect with self and others from a place of compassion. They will learn how to be more present by slowly listening and observing with all their senses.
